A Japanese teppanyaki restaurant, an Irish pub, and celebrity chef concept dining venues will feature aboard Sun Princess, Princess Cruises’ first Sphere Class ship.
When Sun Princess makes her debut early in 2024, Princess Cruises‘ next-generation ship will offer a wide array of dining experiences that cater to every taste, including exciting concepts from renowned chef Rudi Sodamin and a celebrity chef to be announced soon.
The first Sphere Class ship will feature 29 new and signature dining and lounge options, including Japanese at Umai Teppanyaki, O’Malley’s Irish Pub, reimagining the classic Irish pub concept, and seafood specialties at The Catch by Rudi from award-winning chef Rudi Sodamin.
The Promenade will introduce a fresh perspective, serving up pizza at Promenade Slice, gourmet burgers, hot dogs, freshly baked bagels, and a selection of ice cream.
“Outstanding food and drink at exceptional value are a cornerstone of the Princess experience. Sun Princess elevates the entire portfolio of offers and wraps them in restaurants, bars, and sundecks that reveal stunning views, ocean vistas and sunshine, ice and wildlife,” said John Padgett, Princess Cruises’ president.
“Our chefs will serve up vibrant flavors, pour perfectly crafted cocktails, and provide personalized service that is second to none,” Padgett continued in a press release.
Several signature Princess dining venues will also return, including the Crown Grill steakhouse, Italian specialty dining at Sabatini’s, fan-favorite Alfredo’s Pizzeria, and Kai Sushi.
Sun Princess will offer dining options for all tastes and budgets
From breakfast to late-night snacks, Sun Princess‘ multiple dining decks will have something to offer everyone. Cruisers can savor specialty coffees, frozen treats, sushi, gourmet pizza, zesty barbeque, deluxe burgers, and hot dogs in addition to diverse cuisines ranging from Mexican to Mongolian. Guests will have a wider range of choices with vegetarian and plant-based cuisine options.
The Horizons Dining Room, which stretches from deck 6 to deck 8, will elevate the traditional main dining experience with stunning wake views and natural light. Horizons will offer various dining types with a range of formality levels.
Menu options will include a Smoked Salmon Omelet and Swedish Pancakes at breakfast; lunch dishes like Corn Chowder with a Signature Burger, Cobb Salad, or Quinoa Salmon Poke Bowl; and dinner entrées including Lamb Leg Provençale, Sautéed Redfish Caponata, and Cauliflower Steak with tahini, couscous, and asparagus.
While passengers staying in the Reserve Collection of mini-suites and cabana cabins will have access to the Reserve Collection Restaurant on Deck 7, the Signature Collection, a new level of suite accommodations, will include access to the new Signature Restaurant and Signature Lounge on Decks 15 and 16. Both private dining rooms will have an expanded menu featuring exclusive items, such as a prime rib carving trolley.
Food and drinks in Sun Princess’ Piazza
The Piazza, at the heart of the ship, will feature several food and drink venues, whether you want to grab a quick coffee, relax with a craft cocktail, or indulge in some comfort food.
Bellini’s Cocktail Bar
Located in the center of the Piazza on Deck 7, Bellini’s Cocktail Bar is inspired by the shimmering beauty of gems. Cruisers can sip Champagne cocktails while enjoying panoramic views from the massive Sphere window and listen to live entertainment in the Piazza.
Coffee lovers can awaken their senses at Coffee Currents, located on the first level of the three-story Piazza. Offering specialty coffees and teas—including a creamy latte exclusive to Sun Princess—the casual venue will also serve up an array of snacks including fresh pastries, scones, sandwiches, and other treats. Cruisers can take their order to go or linger over a coffee in the adjacent lounge.
Good Spirits At Sea
Good Spirits collects farm-fresh, local ingredients that inspire unique cocktail experiences, led by skilled bartenders. On Sun Princess this favorite bar is a distinct venue, and will also offer an immersive martini experience as well as an immersive royal tea experience.
O’Malley’s Irish Pub
A popular new pub currently offered on Enchanted Princess, O’Malley’s will join Sun Princess as a traditional Irish pub with live music, interactive entertainment, and menu items including the freshly-ground ribeye-blend Bushmills Blue Burger and the O’Malley’s Burger patties, dressed with Bushmills Whiskey glaze.
In the heart of the ship adjacent to the Piazza and open for lunch, dinner, and late-night snacking, O’Malley’s will offer comfort food including pub-style Fish & Chips, Traditional Bangers & Mash, and Shepherd’s Pie.
Specialty Dining on Sun Princess
For-a-fee specialty dining options aboard Sun Princess include several signature Princess restaurants, along with some new venues debuting on the ship.
Crown Grill (Deck 7)
With a contemporary design and a theater-style kitchen, the Crown Grill experience is taken to the next level on Sun Princess. This specialty restaurant will offer an intimate dining experience in an elegant atmosphere, featuring premium aged beef and fresh seafood dishes. It also gives customers a look into the show galley where chefs prepare premium cuts of beef, chops, and fish. This favorite dining spot will be located next to Princess Live! and the Princess Arena.
Kai Sushi (Deck 8)
A modern sushi bar near the heart of the Piazza, Kai Sushi boasts spectacular views from the Sphere window along with a wide menu of sushi and sashimi specialties, plus signature rolls like Crispy Lobster Tempura, Wagyu Tataki, and Asparagus and Salmon. Cruisers can enjoy a meal at the venue’s intimate tables or watch expert sushi chefs at work from the traditional sushi bar.
Sabatini’s (Deck 8)
Each day, guests can see fresh pasta being made in Sabatini’s all-new pasta room with sweeping circular windows. The inspired design of this Princess favorite includes tiny bistro-style nooks and a stunning circular dining space.
The Italian restaurant’s Sicilian Fried Mozzarella Rice Balls scented with black truffle, creamy Burrata Caprese, and Classic Beef Carpaccio are just some of the specialties on the menu, along with seafood dishes and primavera pastas, savory meats featuring lamb chops, veal tenderloin, and strip loin steak. Desserts include the Italian classic Tiramisù, as well as a selection of pastries, tortes, and a Ricotta Cheesecake.
Umai Teppanyaki (Deck 8)
Sun Princess exclusive Umai Teppanyaki will combine Japanese cuisine and showmanship. Teppanyaki masters captivate guests by artfully slicing and dicing meats, chicken, fish, and vegetables on the iron teppan grill that serves as their stage.
Cruisers will have a front-row seat at the table while sipping signature drinks like the Wasabi Cocktail or Japanese Martini. The show begins with a selection of starters like Pork Belly Yakitori or Spicy Tuna on the Rocks, then progresses to entrées like Black Cod in soy reduction and Filet Mignon with Champagne Cognac flambé. For dessert, guests will be presented with a Chocolate Bento Box with green tea ice cream.
The Catch by Rudi (Deck 9)
Adjacent to World Fresh Marketplace is The Catch by Rudi, a pop-up dinner concept from celebrity Chef Rudi Sodamin. The venue will showcase treasures from the sea like Oysters on the Half Shell with red-and-pink peppercorn mignonette, Calamari with seasoned panko coating and lemon aioli, Mussels Provençale with crusty bread for dipping, and a Catch of the Day lineup.
Casual and outdoor dining on Sun Princess
Sun Princess will offer a variety of casual dining venues: buffet-style eats, round-the-clock snacks, fun poolside eateries, and more.
World Fresh Marketplace (Deck 9)
Princess’ buffet concept World Fresh Marketplace has transformed aboard Sun Princess and will invite diners on a journey of flavors and experiences from around the world.
The all-day buffet located adjacent to the Piazza will feature expansive windows overlooking the Promenade. Chefs will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner at nine food stations—designed for enhanced traffic flow—ranging from Mongolian barbeque and Tapas stations to Asian stir fry and Panini stations. Other stops offer carving boards of roasted meats, bread and salad selections, fruits, hot dishes, and desserts.
International Café (Deck 9)
The favorite Princess coffee spot International Café will serve up convenient snacks around the clock, from savory breakfast sandwiches to focaccia and flatbreads, along with a selection of desserts.
The Promenade (Deck 9)
With a beachy California vibe, The Promenade will offer al fresco dining adjacent to World Fresh Marketplace, with amazing views close to the waterline. The outdoor food stations at the Promenade Grill and Bar will serve quick and tasty favorites. Cruisers can choose from covered tables and lounge seating that faces the sky, or sit at the aft view covered deck.
Lido (Deck 17)
The reimagined dining spots on the Lido Deck have a laid-back resort ambiance and will offer something for all tastes, from sizzling burgers and vibrant salads to fiery tacos and fresh and fruity colorful drinks and mocktails.
Enjoy your meal poolside or while gazing out at the sea, then head to Coffee & Cones for a treat of gourmet ice cream sandwiches, free ice cream cones, and specialty coffees and teas. Then head to the vibrant MIX, a top-deck bar, to sip your favorite beverage.
Horizons Dining Room (Decks 6, 7, and 8)
A first for Princess, the Horizons Dining Room will introduce a stunning, three-story main dining venue with a total capacity of 1,931 guests. The open and flexible space will elevate the traditional Princess main dining experience with stunning wake views and natural light that highlight a decorative sculpture.
The three dining levels, each with its own personality, will offer guests multi-course meals. The varied dining experiences include Horizons Diner on Deck 8 offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner favorites all day long.
