Celebrity Cruises has announced the cancellation of a total of 18 cruises aboard Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Constellation for 2024 and 2025.
Premium cruise line Celebrity has notified customers booked on two ships of changes to deployments and sailing dates resulting in the cancellation of 18 sailings in 2024 and 2025.
Several months of sailings are affected for both Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Constellation. The cruise line has stated that passengers will be compensated for the disruptions.
The new cancellations come just months after Celebrity canceled five months of sailings on Celebrity Beyond, affecting that ship’s entire summer 2024 season.
Cancellations for Celebrity Apex
Celebrity Cruises has been informing passengers booked on several Celebrity Apex sailings that their cruises have been canceled because of a change in the ship’s drydock schedule.
The canceled cruises on Celebrity Apex are the November 9, 2024 and November 21, 2024 departures, as well as all sailings from March 8, 2025 through April 26, 2025.
“In accordance with global ship safety guidelines, Celebrity Cruises will be revising Celebrity Apex’s season schedule to include drydock for routine inspection in 2025, instead of 2024 as originally scheduled,” an email sent to booked guests explained.
The November 2024 voyages included a 12-night transatlantic sailing from Lisbon, Portugal to Fort Lauderdale on November 9 and a 9-night Southern Caribbean cruise on November 21.
The canceled cruises on Celebrity Apex for 2025 included a range of Caribbean sailings to various ports of call.
In this new announcement, ten sailings in total have been canceled for Celebrity Apex in 2024 and 2025.
With the changes to Apex‘s drydock dates, it’s probable that new itineraries will be added for the ship— including a transatlantic—but the company hasn’t yet announced its plans.
Cancellations for Celebrity Constellation
Following this week’s announcement that Celebrity will begin sailing four ships from three Florida ports beginning in winter 2024, multiple cruises on Celebrity Constellation have also been canceled to accommodate the ship’s new itineraries from Tampa, Florida.
In an email to booked passengers, the cruise line stated, “As we position our brand for continued success, we constantly seek opportunities to elevate our already incredible offerings. With this goal in mind, Celebrity Cruises is pleased to announce we will be redeploying Celebrity Constellation in January 2025, revising her current 9- and 12-night itineraries to predominantly 7-night itineraries out of Tampa.”
The canceled cruises on Celebrity Constellation include ALL sailings from January 11, 2025 through April 3, 2025, excluding the March 1, 2025 departure.
The March Constellation cruise that hasn’t been canceled (as of the date of publication) is a 12-night New Orleans and Caribbean sailing, visiting NOLA, Key West, Honduras, Costa Maya, and Cozumel.
From January through April 2025, a total of eight sailings have been canceled for Celebrity Constellation, most of which were 9- or 12-night cruises.
Celebrity Cruises offers compensation for affected guests
In its emails to guests booked on the canceled cruises, Celebrity has offered compensation for the disruption of guests’ vacation plans. The compensation offered is the same for guests booked on either Celebrity Apex or Celebrity Constellation, and includes:
- All guests will automatically receive a 100% refund of all money paid, back to their original form of payment. If a future cruise credit was used for the booking, that credit will be reinstated.
- Pre-booked shore tours, drink packages, specialty dining, and other onboard purchases will also be fully refunded, along with hotel reservations booked through the cruise line.
- All guests will receive $200 USD of onboard credit per canceled stateroom, to be used on a future cruise ($400 OBC for each Retreat booking)
Celebrity has stated that guests booked on a canceled cruise who have made independent travel or shore excursion arrangements should contact those businesses directly to change or cancel bookings.
