Celebrity Cruises Cancels Five Months of Sailings on Celebrity Beyond

Celebrity Cruises Cancels Five Months of Sailings on Celebrity Beyond

Cruise line Celebrity has canceled a total of 19 cruises on its new ship Celebrity Beyond for the summer 2024 season.

Due to a change in deployment plans for Celebrity Beyond, Celebrity Cruises has notified passengers on a total of 19 sailings that their cruises have been canceled.

Celebrity Beyond will relocate to Florida in 2024 to offer sailings to the Bahamas and the Caribbean. In a major change to the company’s original plan to operate the ship in Europe from April through November, Beyond will now homeport year-round in Fort Lauderdale.

Celebrity Beyond will not sail in Europe for 2024 as planned

Beyond, Celebrity Cruises’ newest Edge Series ship, was originally returning to Europe in April of next year for a spring, summer and fall season in Europe before returning to the Caribbean for the winter.

Celebrity had advertised 10- and 11-night itineraries in the Mediterranean, sailing from the port of Civitavecchia near Rome, to ports in Turkey, Greece, and Croatia.

In an email to some affected guests, the company provided the following statement:

“At Celebrity Cruises, we are passionate about providing award-winning vacation experiences. As we position our brand for continued success, we continuously seek opportunities to elevate our already incredible offerings. With this goal in mind, Celebrity Cruises is pleased to announce we will be relocating Celebrity Beyond in 2024 from Europe to the Caribbean to join Celebrity Reflection, sailing year-round in the Caribbean from South Florida. As a result, all Celebrity Beyond Transatlantic and European sailings scheduled to depart April 22, 2024 through November 1, 2024 will be cancelled.”

What to do if your Celebrity Beyond cruise was canceled

Guests on the canceled cruises have the option to rebook on a different Celebrity European cruise—or receive a 100% refund of the canceled booking.

Rebooking a cruise will be at current pricing, so if the new reservation is more expensive passengers will need to pay the difference to book a new reservation.

The cruise line has stated that rebooked guests will be given $100 of onboard credit per stateroom, or $200 per suite for those booked in The Retreat.

Celebrity Apex, Constellation, Equinox, and Ascent (which will make its debut in November 2023) are all Celebrity ships sailing similar itineraries for guests looking to rebook.

Cruisers who want to rebook a canceled cruise must do so by July 11, 2023.

For guests who choose to accept the full refund, Celebrity has not offered a future cruise credit (FCC), onboard credit (OBC) or any discount on a future sailing.

More 2024 news for Celebrity Beyond

The canceled Celebrity Beyond cruises were announced as the company revealed its 2024 plans for the ship. In addition to the news that Beyond would begin sailing year-round from South Florida, Celebrity also plans for the ship to begin visiting Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Beginning next summer, both Celebrity Beyond and Celebrity Reflection will make port calls at the private island destination.

CocoCay is one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive destinations, only accessible by cruise ship. Prior to the announcement, the resort was only used by Royal Caribbean, a sister cruise line to Celebrity Cruises.
