Mickey and Minnie Debut Bahamian-Inspired Outfits for Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point

Mickey and Minnie Mouse will sport new Bahamian looks for their visits to Disney Cruise Line’s newest island destination, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point on the island of Eleuthera.

The new outfits, created by Bahamian fashion designer Theodore Elyett, will have a distinctly Bahamian flair influenced by the lively parades and cheerful music of Junkanoo, the Bahamas’ signature celebration.

Theodore Elyett’s Lookout Cay outfits are inspired by Bahamas culture

Theodore’s designs capture the culture and vibrant colors of island life, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of his native country. His creations have been seen on brides, cover girls, celebrities, Miss Universe contestants, and even government officials.

Theodore Elyett was surrounded by fashion and the arts when he was growing up in Nassau, Bahamas. At a young age, he began making dresses at his mother’s sewing factory. When Theodore was just thirteen years old, in 1998 (coincidentally the year Disney Cruise Line first sailed) his designs made their runway debut.

In June 2024, Theodore’s designs will debut on a new stage: Disney’s Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point. Mickey and Minnie’s Lookout Cay outfits will be a part of an array of vibrant pieces created by local artists that visitors will see and interact with throughout the private island destination.

“The beauty of Mickey and Minnie’s looks are that they are literally ‘Junkanoo Fun in the Sun,’” Theodore said in a press release. “When you talk about the print, pattern, color, texture of Junkanoo, they’ve got that.”

The designer will also create unique looks for Donald and Daisy Duck, Chip and Dale, Goofy, and Pluto. You can learn about Theodore and his inspiration for Mickey and Minnie’s Lookout Cay outfits in the video below:
