Holland America Debuts Refreshed Menu at Canaletto

The updated menu at Canaletto restaurant on Holland America will feature fresh pasta, Italian desserts, and new cocktails.

Holland America Line has announced the debut of a new menu at Italian specialty restaurant Canaletto. Passengers dining at the extra-fee dinner venue will now be able to enjoy several new selections as well as signature favorites that remain on the menu.

Canaletto’s Italian experience

Authentic dishes, including fresh pasta made on board are the focus of HAL’s updated authentic Italian menu at Canaletto.

The new menu features a three-course meal including small plates, homemade pastas and entrées, desserts, and a Special of the Day.

“The pasta we make on board is exceptional and we want the updated menu to continue to reflect an Italian experience with a focus on freshness and authenticity,” said Michael Stendebach, Holland America Line’s VP of food and beverage.

“Each course has a selection that brings the flavors of Italy on board no matter where our ships are cruising, and the update adds some exciting new dishes and cocktails,” Stendebach added in a press release.

Small plates

Cruisers can start their meal at Canaletto with a small plate. The popular Antipasto Plate features prosciutto di parma, finocchiona salami, truffle salami, Terre Ducali coppa, Parmigiano Reggiano and Sicilian olives. Other options include Veal and Sage Meatballs, Burrata, Canaletto Salad, and Grilled Tiger Shrimp.

Entrées

Fresh pasta made on board is the star of the entrée selections. New dishes include Casarecce Pesto Genovese, Italian Sausage Paccheri, Seared Mediterranean Seabass and Mussels, and Scallop and Calamari Trenette.

Returning favorites include Chianti-Braised Beef Short Rib and Herb and Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast. Formerly offered as a weekly special, Ossobuco will now be available daily.

Italian desserts

Canaletto’s menu features a selection of traditional desserts, including Tiramisu, Lemon Ricotta Baked Cheesecake, Chocolate Hazelnut Tart, Affogato, and a gelato trio. Gelato is also made fresh on board daily.

Italian favorite cocktails

In addition to the cuisine, a highlight of the refreshed menu is the new cocktail selection. Guests can try an Aperol Spritz, Spumoni (made with Holland America’s own De Lijn Gin), Tuscan Lemon Drop, or a Canaletto Bellini with a selection of fruit purées.

The menu also includes a selection of sparkling, white, and red wines, as well as beer and digestifs.

Dining at Canaletto

Dinner at Canaletto is offered at a $25 cover charge per person. Cruisers with the Have it All package can enjoy included dining at Canaletto.
