Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, Carnival Venezia, has begun her maiden voyage from Barcelona to her new homeport of New York City.
Carnival Venezia, the cruise line’s newest addition to the fleet, has welcomed the first passengers to experience “Carnival Fun Italian Style” as the ship set sail in Barcelona on her way to New York City.
On May 29, Venezia began a two-week Carnival Journeys transatlantic voyage and will arrive at her new homeport at Manhattan Cruise Terminal on June 13.

The first passengers to board the ship from Barcelona’s cruise terminal were met by Carnival President Christine Duffy on Monday. Duffy is sailing alongside guests and Venezia‘s crew for the first part of the voyage.
“Following an extensive enhancement, Carnival Venezia really looks and feels like part of the Carnival family—with Italian theming and unique flair that I know our guests will appreciate,” said Duffy.
“I’m looking forward to experiencing some of the ‘Carnival Fun Italian Style’ elements with our first guests and I can’t wait to welcome the ship for her debut in New York,” she continued.
Carnival Fun Italian Style debuts on Carnival Venezia
The cruise line’s “Carnival Fun Italian Style” concept is debuting aboard Carnival Venezia. To enhance guests’ experience with the ship’s comprehensive Italian theming, Carnival developed special entertainment programming, including a special Captain’s Venetian Toast and an Italian street party on the Lido.
New specialty restaurant Il Viaggio, promising a culinary voyage of the best regional meals and drinks from many areas of Italy, is one of the many dining and beverage options that Carnival Venezia is introducing.
Carnival also plans to include the new Fun Italian Style theme aboard Carnival Firenze, debuting in May 2024.

The ship also offers a number of tried-and-true Carnival favorites, including Guy Fieri’s Guy’s Burger Joint, Fahrenheit 555, Bonsai Sushi & Teppanyaki, and Chef’s Table, as well as Piano Bar 88 and Heroes Tribute Lounge. A large portion of the ship’s original interior design pays architectural homage to the Italian city of Venice, which served as the inspiration for the new concepts and programming.
Carnival Venezia’s inaugural itineraries
Venezia‘s first sailing from New York, a four-day voyage to Bermuda, is scheduled to depart on June 15, 2023. The ship will sail from its new homeport on 22 different itineraries visiting 25 ports in 14 different countries.
Update: Comedian Jay Leno Will Be Godfather of Carnival Venezia
Carnival Venezia will reposition from New York in the winter of 2024 with a 12-Day Southern Caribbean Carnival Journeys cruise. On December 18, 2024, the ship will arrive in Port Canaveral to start the winter cruise season. After a series of sailings from Florida stopping at popular ports in the Bahamas and the Caribbean, Venezia will return to New York in the spring of 2025.
