Virgin Voyages Adds New Destinations and Itineraries, Changes Some Sailings

Cruise line Virgin Voyages is introducing 19 new ports and 27 new itineraries worldwide, with sailings available through April 2025.

Virgin Voyages will introduce 19 new ports and 27 new itineraries through April 2025. Spanning the world, the new cruises include a return to the United Kingdom, new ports of call in Australia, and new Caribbean destinations.

Known for its adults-only ships, chef-curated cuisine, and emphasis on relaxation and wellbeing, Virgin is providing Sailors (the brand’s term for passengers) with its widest selection of destinations along with new summer and winter itineraries premiering across the fleet.

“Our loyal sailors have been asking for more places to visit with us, so we’re delivering in a big way. New ports, new itineraries, and more local and immersive experiences to create unforgettable getaways,” said Michelle Bentubo, Virgin’s SVP of Service Excellence and Travel Operations.

“From Morocco to Mooloolaba, Amsterdam to Bordeaux, Catania to Port Douglas, we now offer more than 120 incredible places you can explore aboard our award-winning ships you know and love. After all, it’s not just about where you go; it’s about who you go with and make a holiday one to remember,” Bentubo continued in a press release.

Casablanca, Morocco is one of the fascinating ports of call offered on several of Virgin Voyages’ new itineraries

With this news, Virgin Voyages’ fleet will now offer 63 itineraries to some of the world’s most intriguing destinations. Among the new options is what the company refers to as its Seachange Series. These new repositioning trips give travelers more possibilities to extend their vacations and discover the world at large.

New itineraries and destinations for three Virgin ships, along with some changes

The updated itineraries for Resilient Lady, Valiant Lady, and Scarlet Lady include popular ports of call as well as a mix of new destinations.

Although cruiser demand is the reason for Virgin’s addition of new itineraries and ports, Scarlet Lady‘s upcoming drydock and the news that new ship Brilliant Lady has been delayed indefinitely also caused the cruise line to make some itinerary changes and cancellations.

Resilient Lady

Virgin Voyages’ newest Lady will sail three itineraries from her homeport in Athens from May to July 2024, following her first season in Australia.

On the schedule are the popular Greek Island Glow itineraries visiting the islands of Santorini and Mykonos; Adriatic Sea and Greek Gems, which sails along Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast before stopping in Kotor and Corfu; and Starry Nights in Greece & Croatia, which features a mix of the other two seven-night itineraries.

Virgin Voyages will also return to its British roots with a series of three- to six-night sailings on Resilient Lady. Highlights will include English Sights and European Delights, which docks in Le Verdon, La Coruña, and Bilbao and begins in mid-August 2024 running through September. This fall, the cities of Amsterdam and Bruges are also on the itinerary.

Resilient Lady‘s European schedule also includes two repositioning cruises from Portsmouth to Barcelona, expanding the brand’s list of new destinations to include Morocco. Following this journey, Resilient will conclude her Med season with a Barcelona-to-Athens voyage that combines the best of the brand’s Irresistible Med and Greek Island Glow itineraries while also introducing Catania, Sicily.

Finally, Resilient Lady will embark on a 44-night journey from Athens to Australia in October 2024, stopping at bucket-list ports in Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore, and Bali along the way. Sailors can choose from 15 new routes and nine new ports in Australia, including Broome, Albany, Adelaide, Newcastle, Mooloolaba, Port Douglas, Brisbane, Eden, and Kangaroo Island.

Valiant Lady

Valiant Lady will return from Barcelona on October 29, 2023, to begin her itineraries from Miami, including Eastern Caribbean Antilles and Western Caribbean Charm. From January to March 2024, she will cruise out of San Juan, Puerto Rico, offering two southern Caribbean itineraries originally planned for Brilliant Lady, including Sunsets in the Lesser Antilles and The Southeastern Caribbean Isles.

When Scarlet Lady enters dry dock next year, sister ship Valiant Lady will take her place beginning in April 2024. Valiant will depart from Miami and will continue to offer Scarlet‘s popular four- and five-night Caribbean rotations, as well as a unique six-night Holidaze and Nights voyage.

Scarlet Lady

Scarlet Lady will sail under the Mediterranean sun next summer, from May to October 2024, on Valiant Lady‘s two seven-night voyages: Irresistible Med and French Daze and Ibiza Nights. Scarlet will cruise from Barcelona to Civitavecchia on November 3 for an 11-night repositioning journey, calling at Mallorca, Corsica, and Sardinia.

After a brief dry dock for regular maintenance, improvements, and recalibrations, Scarlet Lady will return to service with a 16-night transatlantic cruise from Rome to Miami. This new route includes stops in Funchal, Madeira, and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

Scarlet Lady will arrive in Miami on December 14, 2024 to offer Valiant‘s signature six- and eight-night winter journeys through spring of 2025, including Western Caribbean Charm and Eastern Caribbean Antilles.

These longer itineraries from Miami, which initially launched in the fall of 2022, feature late-night stays in San Juan, authentic experiences in the stunning and rugged landscape of Roatán, and a taste of the US Virgin Islands with a day trip to St. Croix.

The launch of the new Brilliant Lady will be delayed

Virgin Voyages is dealing with unanticipated construction, supply chain, and staffing issues that have delayed the launch of its fourth ship, Brilliant Lady.

Given the challenges, Virgin has made the decision to postpone Brilliant Lady’s debut. The company says it’s evaluating new possible launch dates when it is able to deliver the standards that Sailors have come to expect.

Guests with canceled bookings will receive special offers, exclusive rebooking perks, and onboard credit once the new date is confirmed.

Brilliant Lady‘s delay impacted the entire fleet, as Virgin Voyages has also canceled, rescheduled, or changed select sailings to accommodate demand.

Guests on the affected sailings have been offered alternatives, resulting in changes to some itineraries on both Resilient Lady and Valiant Lady. Several winter 2024 Caribbean voyages originally scheduled on Brilliant will now be operated by Valiant.

Canceled sailings for other Virgin ships include:

  • Valiant Lady: 6-night Western Caribbean Charm itineraries scheduled for January 7, 2024 through March 17, 2024
  • Valiant Lady: 8-night Eastern Caribbean Antilles itineraries scheduled for January 13, 2024 through March 23, 2024
  • Resilient Lady: 7-night Adriatic Sea & Greek Gems itineraries scheduled for July 28 through September 29, 2024
  • Resilient Lady: 7-night Greek Island Glow itineraries scheduled for August 4 through October 13, 2024
