For smokers, it’s important to know where you can light up (and where you can’t!) while onboard. Carnival Cruise Line provides designated smoking areas across its fleet to ensure a pleasant and inclusive experience for everyone.
As attitudes toward smoking have evolved over the years, cruise lines have adapted to provide designated areas for smokers and vapers. These areas not only ensure the comfort of non-smoking guests but also cater to those who wish to smoke.
All Carnival cruise ships offer at least one outdoor designated smoking area on board.
Smoking Areas on Carnival Cruise Ships
Here’s an overview of the smoking areas you can find on Carnival Cruise ships:
Smoking areas on designated outdoor decks:
Carnival Cruise Line offers designated outdoor decks where smoking is permitted. Carnival ships will offer at least one large sheltered smoking area, and many also feature smaller smoking sections that are more open to the elements.
Smoking areas in the casino
For guests who enjoy both gaming and smoking, the casino provides a convenient option on most sailings (the casino is entirely non-smoking on Carnival cruises from Australia).
However, Carnival does have several important rules about smoking in their casinos, including:
- Smoking and vaping are only allowed in the smoking section while seated and actively playing
- Smoking pipes or cigars is prohibited
- For casinos with bar seating, smoking is prohibited at the bar
Good to know: On embarkation and disembarkation days, smoking is not allowed while the ship is refueling. Consider choosing a later arrival time to minimize the inconvenience on embarkation day.

Venice Class smoking areas
Carnival Firenze
Carnival Firenze is set to debut in spring 2024. Carnival hasn’t released the locations of designated smoking areas for the new ship yet.

Carnival Venezia
Cigarette smoking and vaping are permitted in the following areas on Carnival Venezia:
Venezia Casino: Smoking is allowed in a portion of the casino during open hours. Guests can smoke cigarettes or vape in the designated section when seated and playing. Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar or when the casino is closed.
Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in designated areas on Deck 5 (starboard side, forward) and Deck 11 (starboard side, aft).
Cigars and tobacco pipes are only permitted at the outdoor smoking areas on Deck 5 (starboard side, forward) and Deck 11 (starboard side, aft).
Excel Class smoking areas
Carnival Jubilee
Carnival Jubilee is set to debut in December 2023. Carnival hasn’t released the locations of designated smoking areas for the new ship yet.

Carnival Celebration
Cigarette smoking and vaping are permitted in the following areas on Carnival Celebration:
Empress Casino: Smoking is allowed in a portion of the casino during open hours. Guests can smoke cigarettes or vape in the designated section when seated and playing. Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar or when the casino is closed.
Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in a designated outdoor area at Bar 820 on Deck 8 (starboard side, midship), and in a designated area on Deck 17 (starboard side, aft).
Cigars and tobacco pipes are only permitted at the outdoor smoking area on Deck 17 (starboard side, aft).
Mardi Gras
Cigarette smoking and vaping are permitted in the following areas on Mardi Gras:
Mardi Gras Casino: Smoking is allowed in a portion of the casino during open hours. Guests can smoke cigarettes or vape in the designated section when seated and playing. Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar or when the casino is closed.
Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in a designated outdoor area at Bar Della Rosa on Deck 8 (starboard side, midship), and in a designated area on Deck 17 (starboard side, aft).
Cigars and tobacco pipes are only permitted at the outdoor smoking area on Deck 17 (starboard side, aft).

Vista Class smoking areas
Carnival Panorama
Cigarette smoking and vaping are permitted in the following areas on Carnival Panorama:
Panorama Casino: Smoking is allowed in a portion of the casino during open hours. Guests can smoke cigarettes or vape in the designated section when seated and playing. Smoking is not allowed at the casino bar or when the casino is closed.
Outdoors: Smoking is permitted in designated areas on Deck 5 (port side and starboard side, forward) and Deck 11 (starboard side, aft and forward).
