How to Enter Holland America’s Poster Design Contest to Win a Free Cruise

One winning poster designer will receive a seven-day Alaska cruise for two!

On February 16, 2023, Holland America Line launched a poster design contest to mark its 150th anniversary this April. The cruise line famous for its iconic advertising artwork during the golden age of cruising is asking fans to come up with some new poster designs to celebrate the sesquicentennial.

“Holland America Line’s poster art is a rich and important tradition in our company’s heritage. This contest provides an opportunity for our fans to engage in our 150th Anniversary by contributing to our enduring history through new poster art designs,” said Kacy Cole, vice president of marketing and e-commerce for HAL.

“We know how passionate our online communities are and truly look forward to the submissions we will get from fans around the world,” continued Cole in a press release.

One grand prize winner will receive a free cruise for two

The winner of HAL’s poster contest will receive a seven-day Alaska cruise for two in a balcony stateroom, with a total value of up to $2,556 USD. The cruise must be booked and completed by September 28, 2024.

The winning poster will be featured on Holland America’s social media channels, and will also be on display at the NYC cruise terminal on April 6 and 7 while MS Rotterdam overnights in the city before its 150th anniversary transatlantic crossing.

How to enter Holland America’s poster design contest

The cruise line is inviting artists of all abilities to enter Holland America’s poster design contest via the company’s Facebook page or Instagram account.

Posters can be created digitally or hand-drawn, and entry posts must include the hashtag #HollandAmericaLine150Contest. Poster art must be in color and must contain the phrases “Holland America Line” and “150th Anniversary”.

Holland America’s poster design contest is open to legal residents of the United States (including DC) and Canada (excluding Québec) who are age 21 or older at the time of entry.

Entries must be posted by March 3, 2023 at 11:59 PM ET.

A panel of Holland America Line executives and leaders will select the winner. The poster contest winner will be announced in March 2023, and full contest rules can be found online.

Holland America’s 150th anniversary celebrations

Celebrations for the 150th anniversary began last year, and Holland America Line’s poster contest is just one of the ways the cruise line is marking the milestone.

An anniversary transatlantic crossing aboard MS Rotterdam sailed in October 2022, with another upcoming in April 2023.

The cruise line continues to celebrate its heritage with the launch of De Lign gin and a limited-edition Pilsner beer, as well as special anniversary merchandise in the onboard shops.

HAL’s new Heritage Cruises will serve recipes reminiscent of dishes from as early as the 1920s, and feature “Throwback Happy Hours” with prices as low as 75 cents.

Holland America Line has also announced a new partnership with the Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation as part of the celebration.
