Are you a teacher? NCL’s Teacher Cruise Discount provides a year-round offer to the educator community, including a cruise fare discount and onboard credit on each sailing.
Here’s everything you need to know to take advantage of this benefit so you can save money on your next cruise!
NCL’s new Teacher Discount Program
In honor of 2024’s Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10), Norwegian Cruise Line has launched a new Teacher Cruise Discount program. Benefits for educators and staff across the US and Canada include a year-round cruise fare discount as well as onboard credit.
What are the benefits of Norwegian’s Teacher Discount?
Teachers can now take advantage of a 5% discount off any NCL cruise worldwide and a $50 onboard credit on every cruise.

The educator discount is combinable with Norwegian’s Free at Sea promotion, which provides guests with perks like drink packages, specialty dining, shore excursion credits, and more.
Who is eligible for the NCL Teacher Discount?
Education professionals including active classroom teachers (PreK-12), principals and assistant principals (PreK-12), school employees (PreK-12), and college or university professors are all eligible for Norwegian Cruise Line’s Teacher Discount.
The NCL Teacher Discount is only available for educators who are 18 years or older and legal residents of the 50 United States (including the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico) or Canada.
Although the teacher discount can’t be shared with others, the 5% discount applies to everyone sailing in the educator’s stateroom.
How to get NCL’s Teacher Discount
Norwegian’s Teacher Cruise Discount requires educators to be verified through ID.me, a secure digital identity network that enables members of the education community to confirm their identity once and never have to re-verify their identity again—at NCL or at any organization where ID.me is accepted.
Here’s a step-by-step guide that shows you how to access the ID.me network and link your educator identity with your NCL profile:
- Head to www.ncl.com/teachers and log in to your MyNCL account (If you’ve never cruised with Norwegian before and don’t have a MyNCL account, you can register for free).
- Click on the “VERIFY IDENTITY WITH ID.ME” button. This will launch a popup window, so be sure to disable any popup blockers.
- If you’re new to ID.me, click on “Create an ID.me account.” If you’ve been verified previously, enter the email and password you use with ID.me and click the “Sign in” button.
- If you need to create an account with ID.me, you can sign up with your email and choose a password, or sign up via your Facebook, Google, Apple, or LinkedIn account (scroll to the bottom to see those options).
- Once you’ve created your account, you’ll need to submit a photo of your identity document (driver’s license, passport, or state ID) and a selfie. ID.me uses facial recognition to compare your ID photo to your selfie.
- Wait for your ID to be verified. The verification process typically takes five minutes or less. Once your credentials are verified, you should automatically see your discounted cruise rates on NCL.com at checkout when you’re logged in. You only have to validate with ID.me one time, and then your eligibility will be permanently associated with your My NCL account.
If you run into any issues with the registration process, visit https://help.id.me/hc/en-us for assistance.
Tip: If you’re booking a cruise through a travel professional, be sure to give them your NCL Latitudes number so you can receive your teacher discount.
